From South Africa, Jamie headed south,
but not for a winter but the awesome weather of Dubai. The UAE continues to
boom and with the latest addition to the sports community being the ‘Aspire’
Academy in Doha (Qatar), things don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
74 new hotels on the go and with 1/3 of the world’s cranes now positioned in
Dubai, there is certainly no shortage of potential or ambition.
We were very fortunate to have the direction of Mr Greg Boucher and guys at
MEFIT PRO (Middle Eastern Fitness Professionals) to assist us in the Dubai
launch.

| Contrary to many peoples
perception of the UAE, there is quite a range of sporting diversity in the
region, with many Aussies, Kiwis, British and South Africans now calling UAE
home. They enjoy wonderful facilities and the opportunity to further their
career in the sport and fitness industry. With the increasing population and
desire to host international sporting events, we were delighted to be invited
to the region and launch the XLR8® program. |
MEFIT PRO is
heavily involved in the running of a number of other successful courses and the
synergy between these programs and XLR8® seem a great fit. Many of their
programs are based on ‘Les Mills Gym Training’ (Body Training Systems) and see
an ongoing effort to support trainers in professional development through
regular updates to the latest in personal training, group fitness and sports
strength and conditioning.
Thank you to all those who attended the first course held in the Middle East of
this nature and it was fantastic to see representatives from UAE Rugby Union
along as they attempt to qualify for the 2007 Rugby World Cup. Best of luck to
Ghaith Al Ghaith (Arabian Gulf Rugby Development Officer) and Adrian Kerr
(Arabian Gulf Rugby Captain) who both joined the program. Julie Hall is the
manager/chairperson of the Dubai Triathlon Club, showing it wasn’t just team
sports who were craving the knowledge, also featured amongst the XLR8®
participants, along with personal fitness instructors from the large number of
health clubs, gyms and hotels in the UAE.
We are sure in the coming months we will be able to develop this relationship
and offer another high quality program to the MEFIT PRO repertoire.
